After the Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA) Task Force on Arsenic, Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, published its Report in 1977, the CPHA implemented an Electromyography Program in the Northwest Territories. To discover if there were any difference between the people of Yellowknife and other areas in the Territories, the Study Team surveyed people in Yellowknife and a control population in Hay River, Northwest Territories. A stratified sample of the Yellowknife population was chosen. Tests were conducted on 409 persons in Yellowknife, and on a control sample of 108 from Hay River.
