Full title: S/S studies of arsenic-containing mine dust and mine fungus identification, and, S/S studies of arsenic-containing mine dust, the identification of the 'white solid underground deposit,' and mine fungus identification and metabolism.

Research and testing on the effects of temperature on bitumen and arsenic trioxide dust mixing and monitoring the long-term leaching characteristics of bitumen/dust monoliths. Four fungi were isolated and identified from soil samples collected underground from the Giant Mine. They were selected from some 300 separate microorganisms isolated following growth on four different media. The fungi were identified following extraction of the DNA for PCR reactions. The 28S rDNA obtained from the PCR reactions were sequenced with the generated DNA sequences were submitted for a similarity match with the following results: Phialophora gregata (with 96% similarity match), Euascomycete (95%), 'salal root associated fungus' (96%), and Pseudeurotium zonatum (96%).
